Local Government Leaders Endorse Tocci

( July 23, 2002 ) Rye Town Supervisor Robert Morabito, Rye City Mayor Steve Otis, and Port Chester Village Trustee Gerard DiRoberto are the latest elected officials to endorse the re-election of Assemblyman Ronald C. Tocci (D-New Rochelle). Tocci faces New Rochelle City Councilman Noam Bramson in a Democratic primary for the 91st Assembly District on September 10th.

“Ron Tocci is constantly looking out for us,” said Supervisor Morabito. “His efforts are keeping our families healthy and safe. He’s led the fight to make quality health care affordable for all. He passed legislation allowing background checks on nursing homes and home health care workers. He supported a law to keep guns out of the hands of children. Experience and seniority count. We have too much to lose if we don’t return Ron Tocci to the Assembly.”

Mayor Otis pointed to Tocci’s work on environmental issues, stating, “Ron Tocci cares deeply about protecting the environment. He has a 95% positive voting record according to the Environmental Planning Lobby. Locally, he has been a leader in funding several municipal environmental projects, Long Island Sound initiatives, and Rye Town Park. He also led the fight to reduce noise and air pollution on I-95.”

Trustee DiRoberto remarked, “Ron works very closely with our Village Board to make sure that our community is a better place to live. He's supported several parkland initiatives and local programs for our youth, veterans, and seniors.”

“I am very pleased to be recognized as an effective legislator by my colleagues in local government,” said Tocci. “It shows that much can be accomplished when local and state officials work cooperatively together for the good of the communities we serve.”
