Campaign News: Oppenheimer, Paulin Endorse Tocci
July 15, 2002. State Senator Suzi Oppenheimer (D-Mamaroneck) and State Assemblywoman Amy Paulin (D-Scarsdale) today endorsed the re-election of Assemblyman Ronald C. Tocci (D-New Rochelle) in the Democratic Primary for the new 91st Assembly District. Tocci faces a primary battle on September 10th forced by New Rochelle City Councilman Noam Bramson.
"We need Ron Tocci in the State Assembly" stated Senator Oppenheimer. "Ron is a proven leader who gets results for our communities. We have worked as a team in Albany and in the Sound Shore communities, and I have witnessed his unwavering commitment to education, the environment, and health care. He understands the concerns of his district, and is remarkably effective when it comes to getting things done."
Assemblywoman Paulin noted that Tocci has been a consistent champion for education, bringing state aid home to local school districts, expanding opportunities for college education, and keeping children safe from guns. "Ron Tocci understands that education is the number one priority of his constituents, and he's delivered time and time again. In a very difficult budget this year, he secured nearly $40 million in state aid for our schools, 25% more in total aid than last year. Our Westchester State Delegation is fortunate to have Ron as a trusted and reliable member."
"I am delighted by the endorsement of my colleagues," said Tocci. "It is confirmation of my hard work on behalf of my constituents, and the effective results we've been able to achieve on the real issues that are on the minds of voters. Their support means a lot to me because these are well-respected leaders who have earned the trust and widespread approval from Democratic voters across the district."
