Larchmont Democrats Announce New Leadership
Press Release
(
December 6, 2002)The Larchmont Village Democratic Committee
proudly announces the naming of its dynamic new leadership
team. Carol Miller and Dorothea Constas have taken up
the reins of party leadership as Co-Chairs of the Larchmont
Village Democrats. Their combined skills, energy and enthusiasm
have already set the Democrats on the road to capturing
the support of Larchmont voters and regaining a majority
on the Village Board of Trustees.
Both of the new Co-Chairs bring to their positions
long involvement in the community and extensive experience
in local politics, having previously worked together
to coordinate a highly successful local election campaign.
Carol Miller, an attorney specializing in corporate
law and litigation, has lived in the Village for more
than 17 years. Her vision for the Larchmont Democrats
is focused upon improving the accessibility and accountability
of local government to all members of the community,
and promoting increased grass roots involvement in local
affairs. She has been an active volunteer in local school
PTAs, member of the Village Recreation Committee, and
member of the Mamaroneck School Board Selection Committee.
Married to Richard Levy, also a lawyer, Ms. Miller has
two children who attend the Mamaroneck public schools.
Long active in political and community affairs, Dorothea
Constas recently changed her political party registration
from independent to Democrat in order to take on her
new role as Co-Chair. Constas says that she was inspired
to do so because she believes that the strength of the
Larchmont Democratic Party is its commitment to represent
the entire Village. A resident of Larchmont for eight
years, Constas has become a valued member of the community,
serving as school budget committee co-chair, soccer coach, and
as a frequent volunteer in school and local community
organizations. Ms. Constas is a public interest attorney
and an adjunct professor at New York Law School. She
and her husband, Jay Rubin, have two children.
"Marlene Kolbert is the sole Democrat holding
elective office in the Village of Larchmont. Our community
is extraordinarily fortunate to have a person of her
considerable experience and dedication serving the public,"
Miller says. "We look forward to the upcoming election,
when we expect to elect two more Democrats to the Village
Board."
Fran Snedeker, Party Chair for the past four years,
continues as Vice-Chair of the Larchmont Village Democratic
Committee.
