Town Police Estabish Tri-Municipality Underage Drinking Hotline

Press Release from Town of Mamaroneck

( November 25, 2002 )Like many of our neighboring communities who are also trying to address the increasing problem of underage drinking, the Town of Mamaroneck’s Police Department, in conjunction with the police departments of the villages of Mamaroneck and Larchmont, is pleased to announce 381-6103 as a dedicated hotline for Town and Village residents to call if they encounter underage drinking, partying, or any situation where groups or individual teens might be putting themselves at risk from alcohol or drug use. The purpose of this completely anonymous hotline is to head off trouble.

Parents, neighbors, brothers, sisters, friends, any residents who want anonymously to report a party developing at a local golf course, in the woods, on the trails, or at a house where there is no apparent parental supervision, can call the hotline, leave a message with the staff person assigned to the desk, and the police will respond.

The hotline project is a tri-municipality service. Persons spotting a potential problem in the Villages of Larchmont or Mamaroneck should also use 381-6103. The Town police will dispatch the information to the appropriate police department which will send a police officer to the scene.

Detective Bob Reynolds, who has served as the Town of Mamaroneck’s youth officer for sixteen years, believes that the hotline will not only reduce the increasing number of problems associated with underage drinking, but will be appreciated by residents who want to help but are hesitant about volunteering their names.

Remember, if you see trouble, or potential trouble, brewing, call 381-6103 and report it. You might save a life from being wasted.
