Starbucks Robbery Suspect Caught

by Paula Eisenberg

(September 25, 2002) Acting on a tip received through Westchester County Crimestoppers, Larchmont Police detectives and N.Y. State Police arrested Anthony Guerra in connection with the July 18 Starbuck's robbery. Mr. Guerra, 31, was arrested on an outstanding parole violation at his home on McClean Avenue in Yonkers at about 7:00 a.m. on Sept. 19. In Larchmont Village Justice Court Tuesday night, he was arraigned and charged with robbery in the first degree and criminal impersonation, and is being held at the Westchester County jail. His next court appearance is set for October 8.

According to a press release issued by Larchmont Chief of Police Stephen D. Rubeo, Mr. Guerra knocked on the front door of Starbucks, at 1929 Palmer Avenue, at around 10:30 p.m. on July 18, 2002. The suspect displayed what appeared to be a police badge, and employees let him into the store. He then let an accomplice, who is still at large, in through a rear door, and the two handcuffed the employees to a sink and robbed the store of over $2,900.

Larchmont Police Department officials praised the Crimestoppers tips line, 1-800-898-TIPS, for helping to solve this crime.
