Flint Park SSO Work Begins

by Paula Eisenberg

Tree-clearing for SSO project begins at edge of Flint Park

(September 5, 2002) The bulldozers are at work in Flint Park, preparing ground for the digging of test holes to determine the depth of the water table. Halcyon Construction, the general contractor for the SSO (Sanitary Sewer Overflow) project, will submit schedules for the rest of the work at a meeting next Thursday, according to Village of Larchmont Engineer Joseph Morgan.

"The work period for the Flint Park portion of the project runs from September 3, 2001 to May 25, 2003," Morgan said. New York State mandated that Westchester County come up with a solution to the chronic problem of sanitary sewer overflow into Long Island Sound, and the current SSO project is the County's local response.

Morgan said there will be updates on the project's progress at the regular Village of Larchmont Board of Trustees meetings.
