Police Seek Suspect in Starbucks Robbery

by Paula Eisenberg

( July 23, 2002) Larchmont Police and Westchester Crime Stoppers are circulating a sketch of a person wanted in the July 18 armed robbery of the Starbucks Coffee Shop on Palmer Avenue. The man, described as a white Starbucks robbery suspectmale, approximately 30 years old, 5'10", 225 lbs., posed as a police officer to gain entry to the coffee shop around 11:00 pm just after employees had locked the doors for the night. He showed a silver badge to one employee, who let him in. He then told the employee to let his partner in via the rear door, and when the employee complied, a second man, wearing black clothes and a ski mask, entered.

The robbers, who never displayed weapons, threatened the employees and claimed to have handguns. The intruders handcuffed the two employees to a pipe under a sink and stole $2,900 before leaving. No one was injured.

If you have any information that might be useful in the investigation, Detective Sgt. William B. Walsh asks you to call 914-834-1000, or the Crime Stoppers hot-line, at 1-800-898-TIPS. You may remain anonymous.
