BREAKING NEWS:
Democrat Challenger Noam Bramson Responds to GOP Endorsement of Democrat Rival Ron Tocci

June 24, 2002 4:00 pm

New Rochelle Councilman Noam Bramson was not surprised to hear that the Westchester Republican Party has endorsed Ron Tocci for Assembly in the 91st District. "Ron's position to accept the Republican nomination confirms what many people have been saying for years, that Mr. Tocci has an extreme right-wing record on a variety of issues that is deeply out of touch with Democratic values."

"What is surprising and very cynical is Ron's decision to continue pursuing the Democratic nomination despite agreeing to run in November as a Republican. He is effectively trying to deny voters a choice in the general election and telling Democrats that he will not respect the judgment they make in the primary."

"Politics needs to be about principles and ideals - not just self-preservation."

It is too early to know how the GOP's decision will impact the Bramson campaign. "I will continue running and will continue standing for the progressive principles in which I believe."
