Crackdown on China's Cyber Cafes
The closing of internet cafes, first in Beijing and then throughout China is capturing attention in the US, China and around the globe and causing concern that something other than fire safety is motivating the closures.
See CNN's coverage from their website or from Larchmont Gazette's archived copy.
This isn't the first time the Chinese government has closed the cafes. See the Christian Science Monitor's coverage from last summer.

No worries about the internet cafes here...there are millions. The one I'm in doesn't seem over crowded. ..very big space, lots of windows. I'm not too worried :)

Oh no, my wang ba (internet bar) has been closed!
Saturday June 22
Internet is found! They've shut down all the internet cafes here (and throughout all of China I've heard) but I'm in the student computer center now. It's not quite as convenient as the internet cafe...but it gets the job done.
